Sales of BI Software Expected to Slow in 2013
Businesses, small and large, are slowly realizing the potential of business intelligence tools. The sales of those tools were on the rise since early 2012. However, leading researching firm, Gartner, has predicted that the trend will change in 2013. According to the latest report released by the firm, 2013 will see a study decline in the sales of business intelligence software. As a result, leading BI companies like Oracle, SAP, IBM, and Microsoft may be effected more dramatically. You might also face a little more difficulty than usual in 2013 in finding a BI job.
BI Software Sales Percentage Growth to Drop to Single Digit
According to the latest reports released by research firm Gartner, the growth in sales of BI software will drop to high single digit numbers. In 2012, the sales growth of BI tools was an impressive 16%. But that was only a passing high, the research firm said that the total money generated from sales of BI software will reach and may even exceed the $13.8 billion mark. Yet, the growth is expected to be only 7% owing to the high number of sales that were recorded in 2012. Because of the clear benefits, a huge number of companies taking up the implementation of BI tools as early adopters has also contributed to the expected slow down.
Macroeconomic Woes Add to Sales Slowdowns
According to the lead analyst at Gartner research firm, Dan Sommer, multimillion dollar business intelligence software deals will be inhibited by the slow sales cycles. Also, the macroeconomic woes that the companies have to contend with will affect the total sales figure too. However, he added that the sales will continue to grow because trends like cloud computing, Big Data and mobile device usage will increase the demand for BI tools. He termed these as the ‘fundamental drivers’ for the sales for BI software.
