Future Looking Very Bright For Android
Mary Meeker, a venture capitalist with Kleiner Perkins, is well known in the tech community for her presentations on the existing technological trends. She is also known as the ‘Queen of the Net’ for a reason and she had some good news for Android fans and students who have enrolled in Android training classes. She said that Android will continue to hold its own despite stiff resistance from Apple and other mobile device manufacturers in the near future. She also added that smartphone and tablets will rule the roost in the future and by the end of next year, i.e. 2013, the total number of smartphone and tablet users put together sums to up to a number that is much higher than the number of PC users.
Apple’s Resistance Proving to Be Futile
Meeker emphasized the fact that even though Apple looks like the most dominating force on the mobile market of the present day, it is not. It is just that the iPhone and iPad are hyped so much that people start getting a feeling that they are everywhere even though they are not. She pointed out to the recent survey that indicated 75% of the smartphones are running on Android. She also pointed out that Android is dominant even in the US mobile market, even if Apple gains lost ground at times.
iPad Overthrowing iPhone As Apple’s Champion Product
Meeker also said that people will definitely start shifting from PCs and laptops to tablets in the coming days. She also made a very bold prediction that indicated the total number of smartphone and tablet users will exceed the number of PC and laptop users by the end of 2013. This is one of the reasons why iPad is slowly becoming the most sought after Apple product, overthrowing the iPhone. She said that the number of iPad purchases was growing at a rate of 300% on a monthly basis.
