The 2012 International CES Exhibit opened up it’s doors in Las Vegas, Nevada yesterday and runs through January 13th. There are more than 3000 exhibitors displaying the newest, cutting edge products today including ultrabooks, voice and gesture based technologies, smartphones and OLED TVs. The exhibit is hosted by the Consumer Electronics Association.
The Consumer Electronics Association is the most dominate trade association that promotes growth in the $190 billion U.S. consumer electronics industry. More than 2,000 companies enjoy the benefits of CEA membership, including legislative advocacy, market research, technical training and education, industry promotion, standards development and the fostering of business and strategic relationships. On Monday the 9th, as a pre-opening event, Microsoft President and CEO Steve Ballmer delivered a keynote address featuring Ryan Seacrest as the celebrity host. Ballmer announced that Microsoft Kinect will come to Windows on February 1, 2012 and demoed the new Windows phone, the Nokia Lumia 710 and 900 and HTC Titan 2, and provided a demonstration of Windows 8.
Cobra Electronics, DISH Network, Lenovo, LG and Onstar, are also unveiling the latest in tablets, smartphones, solar charging devices and digital health products. Android had 19 brand new devices announced yesterday by LG, Motorola, Samsung, Pantech, Sony, ASUS, and Lenovo. Out of those 19 devices, AT&T announced 6 of them!
