Advantages of Jelastic
Jelastic is quite different from other PaaS and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) providers in the market. You do not have to select the size of a machine and then pay for it to use Jelastic services. There is a dynamic allocation of resources for scaling the servers to ensure that they have all the sources that are required. Because of this, hosting associates of Jelastic do not charge for machine size but for the CPU and RAM that is used. This is great for the customers because costs reduce substantially when the machines are powered off. Another great feature of this service is that it is possible for developers to upload their package and have their application on the cloud in a few minutes.
Pricing
A lot of interested customers, such as developers relying on Java training courses, had queries about the price ever since the beta phase began. The rates are available now, and ServInt’s COO says that with billing being done upon the usage a lot of changes can be expected in the PaaS industry. He believes that the product is way ahead of the competition in terms of pricing as well as technology.
The resources being used will be measured in terms of cloudlets. A single cloudlet will be equivalent to 128 mega bytes of RAM and 200 MHz of CPU core. Users of ServInt will have to pay $0.02 for one cloudlet per hour and the price will be 0.016 Euro for Dogado. These are indeed very low prices and will help Jelastic in becoming the top cloud service provider. Also, both ServInt and Dogado are confident about Jelastic and what it has to offer to its customers.
Launch Details
Jelastic has not come out of the beta testing phase since October 2011 in Europe and North America. It has grown a lot during this phase which had more than ten thousand beta testers. Till the product is launched in March, Dogado and ServInt will provide the service without any charges. When the service is launched, all the users will get an extension of two weeks on the beta and then the paid service will be started. Those who take up the service after the launch date will also have a trial period of 2 weeks, before the paid service starts. They can cancel the service during this period.
