Business intelligence has become an integral part of an organization’s everyday decision- making activities. If you have had a chance to look at an OBIEE tutorial, you will see that there are more than one ways of using business tools to your advantage. Consequently, companies are asking users who are not very well versed with sophisticated BI tools, to learn them. The logic of these companies is that the software can help the users overcome the complexities of the BI tools’ usage. With this hindsight, Oracle, one of the pioneers of the BI concept, has made a host of improvements to its BI tools, so that users belonging to all groups can easily use the BI software.
Updates Announced in OBIFS 11.1.1.7
One of Oracle’s flagship products, Oracle BI Foundational Suite’s new release was launched recently along with the updates to another popular discovery platform, the Oracle Endeca. According to Oracle sources, the Endeca ushers in a unique set of tools, that enable users in activities like information discovery, interactivity, and self-service access. They said that this type of approach is vital for the BI, to evolve into business analytics. This is also a part of the new agenda that Oracle has drawn up for the year, 2013.
Some of the Improvements
The improvements (more than 200 of them to be precise) have not been done without purpose. For example, there is a new feature known as the visualization recommendation engine. This feature will suggest which type of visualization is appropriate for a particular type of data. Visualization has become a very important part of the BI strategy, but companies are struggling with the type of visualization they have to adopt, based on the type of data on hand. But this feature will help even novice users create a visualization that is accurate and usable.
