The competition between Oracle and SAP in the Big Data arena has been intense in the past few years.
This competition is expected to heat up as Oracle has big plans. Using the innovations that Oracle has made in the field of in-memory computing, the tech giant will roll out a whole series of apps based on the in-memory computing technology.
In-Memory Apps Available in May
According to recent reports, Oracle will release more than 12 applications, which are based on the innovations of in-memory technology. Some of the applications that you can expect in the first phase of the release cycle are the JD Edwards Enterprise One, In-Memory Sales Advisor, Oracle, Oracle SCM In-Memory Consumption Driven Planning, and JD Edwards Enterprise One In-Memory Project Portfolio Management.
Other Apps in the Pipeline
Although the aforementioned apps will be available in the market in May, there are more apps in the pipeline, which are going to be released in the coming months. Some of those apps include PeopleSoft In-Memory Project Discovery, E-Business Suite In-Memory Cost Management, and JD Edwards Enterprise One In-Memory Sales Advisor.
In-Memory Systems 20 Times Faster
Oracle has also announced that these applications, which are going to be based on the in-memory computing, will perform at speeds that are twenty times faster when compared to the commodity hardware available today. This is because these apps will use the Infiniband Networking and RAM flash memory of the system to perform faster.
According to experts, this is a good move by Oracle; especially considering that, they have had a few bad weeks this quarter. These releases will not only contribute to increase in sales, but also improve the reputation of Oracle as a company in the present market.
