Oracle Takes Big Strides In Terms of Cloud Based Offerings
Oracle Open World 2011 portrayed one of the most ambitious ventures of Oracle and that was a foray into cloud technology. The 2012 edition of the event was all about the announcement of the execution of these plans. Oracle has finally come up with their own cloud based offering that will help them compete with the leading cloud service providers at this point of time, Salesforce.com. While the company was modest about its offerings, they seem to have everything that is required to make it a success.
New Cloud Based Database
The new concept of pluggable databases is the talk of the town and it is no surprise that Oracle has named their latest database offering 12c, where ‘c’ stands for cloud. The database was developed keeping cloud technology in mind and every new feature about it screams of cloud. While you might not feel that this is the right move on the part of Oracle, make no mistake that it is a very calculated and profitable one from the company.
Not All OnDemand Services Are Cloud Based
If you are worried that all the offerings from Oracle from this year on will be cloud based, do not be. Cloud is only one of the niche offerings from Oracle and some of their hugely popular OnDemand services are still on offer. You can choose cloud if you want to but if you prefer otherwise, Oracle can still be your official vendor.
Private Clouds on Offer
Another offering from Oracle is the private cloud service. To put it in simple words, some customers are not too comfortable having their data on the larger cloud and prefer private clouds that offer more security. Budding IT and cloud specialists can learn more about private clouds and their advantages in the Oracle training classes they attend.

I had never heard of Firebox training before now and I have now seen numerous blogs regarding training for different items. This is very interesting because there is a lot of information I am not privy to and I really should be up to speed on this stuff for my business, I can’t count on someone else to run it.

I think it is a great idea to have this because there are a lot of people out there that don’t trust people that run the cloud, how do you know who is there and what they are doing with your information. Thank you for posting this information I am going to look into this one because I am one of those people.

Whether you prefer cloud services or not, that is the way of the future and there is no denying that. I believe in cloud servers as a secure means of storing data, but I too am worried that someone out there has access to my data. This can be dangerous for a novelist or screen writer who is storing their unfinished script on a cloud server.

Awesome! This basically tells me that I am not the only one that feels this way about saving my information someone outside the confines of my home or office. I know that I am old school but with identity theft being so easy these days I just have to be certain that I am safe.

This would make one think that Oracle was lagging behind in the cloud server game. I know Google has to be a leader with regard to cloud services because they have so many different services such as Sound (their streaming music cloud service) and many others..this is good stuff

Regardless of how many services are cloud based, how does that affect oracle developers? I mean, other than whatever learning curve an Oracle programmer might have to overcome in order to develop from a cloud server environment. In the case of Oracle programming, does the introduction of a cloud server environment complicate the code?

I wonder how any of these Firebox training programs correlate with budding and managing IT and cloud server environments. Is the standard Firebox Oracle training series enough to give a person the necessary training to be in demand for jobs of this nature, once Oracle rolls out cloud services? If so, then this news is all the more reason to start your training.

With the cloud getting more and more popular especially for businesses I am glad that they are coming out with smaller clouds for the average person. You have done a great job getting this information out there and I hope that you will continue to post updates as they become available.

I have heard people talking about how they think this is going to be a waste of time and money because people will just continue to use the bigger cloud when it comes to data storage simply because it is bigger and they thing because of that it won’t crash or lose data at any time. I disagree and I like the idea of smaller clouds when it comes to this.

I run a small business and we have been using cloud for awhile now to back up our data and it has worked fine, I have been seeing comments about people not trusting the people that work at the cloud and that is understandable but they do make it secure and you are the only one that has access I think unless something happens and the system goes down.
