For many years, Quorion(a company specializing in portable ordering systems) has been trying different portable devices for their portable ordering systems (POS). However, they have not been able to find the perfect solution. Some of the devices have been too big, while other have lacked reliability or have been not practical enough to put into use.
In recent times, there have been major developments in portable technology and many new operating systems have been introduced. These advancements have helped QUORiON in developing their own portable ordering system which can be used on smartphones and tablets that run on Android 1.6 and above.
The devices, which will run the QMP POS software, will essentially act as an extension of the POS system. QUORiON’s product manager, Matthiase Hesse also stated the software will retain all the features available in the POS system.
How does POS help the restaurant?
The POS system helps the restaurant’s service team to have better co-ordination and allows them to put more focus on the clients. The POS enables the restaurant to reduce the ordering time and provide quick service which is the key for satisfying the customers. If you ever visit a restaurant that uses a POS system, you will find that waiters do not approach you with a notepad but with a POS device.
The order is taken on the Android device and is then sent to the kitchen in real time. Also, the POS device sends the information to the POS system so that it can be processed for billing.
The Marketing Vice President, Patrick Grueschow, said that while the waiter talks about the main course options, the details for the drinks order would have been processed. In fact, it might be possible that the customer’s receive their drinks before the waiter has left with the final order.
Since the entire system uses Wi-Fi for connectivity, every corner of the restaurant can be accessed. When the customer decides to leave, the waiter will use the printer on his belt to print the receipt using Bluetooth. So, the restaurant gets to save time on communication, there are lesser trips that need to be made by the staff, and the table turnover is also better. Using the POS The investment costs for this system will be low because owners can opt to buy any Android device locally.
To ensure that you buy the best Android device for your restaurant and then use it efficiently with the POS system, you should organize an Android training course for your employees. After that, all you have to do is to buy the license and install the application. The ordering device is compatible only with the QUORiON system. The data exchange that takes place between the device and the POS network is done using the main POS system.
A single system can support up to 8 units. The application is compatible with Android devices with screens ranging from 4-inches to 10 inches.
