Last year was a year that saw a lot of growth in the Database and Systems Management market. This was deduced from the fact that there had been a significant growth in demand for database related tools and assistance programs such as OBIEE training classes, which helped companies in mastering such software suites. Even the bad economic conditions around the world could not prevent this industry from seeing a lot of growth. The report that was released by IDC showed that by the end of 2011, the Database Management Software market was worth about $15.4 billion. That meant a growth of 9.2% when compared to 2010.
Regions of Growth
IDC monitors over 110 vendors in 49 countries which provide the biannual market size and the vendor share. IDC also has trackers in these countries, which provide them information about the six functional markets that comprise the management software markets according to its classifications. Analyst Wilvin Chee said that the Systems Management Market saw a growth in double digits for the first half of the year. The maximum gains were seen in the Event Management markets which were boosted significantly by Japan, USA, and CEMA (Central Europe, Middle East and Africa) countries. Workload Scheduling and automation markets also saw a lot of growth.
Among the six markets that are a part of the Systems Management industry, 3 had revenues in excess of a billion dollars for the first half of the year. These three markets were CCM (Change and Configuration Management), WSA (Work Scheduling and Automation), and Performance Management. All these markets saw a lot of growth in the US. Regions like CEMA and Western Europe also saw healthy growth. Countries like Canada and those in Asia Pacific had somewhat of a lower growth rate in the first half.
Companies That Grew
The main reason for the growth was the increase in IT spending because of the economy getting better. The top three companies, when it came to revenue, were IBM, BMC, and Hewlett Packard. However, none of these companies were able to show growth more than the market average. WSA market was where IBM and BMC witnessed most of their growth, whereas HP saw maximum growth in the Problem Management and CCM sector. Vendors like, Hitachi, VMware, Microsoft and Symantec saw above average growth in the first half. IDC also said that 14 vendors earned more than a $100 million in the first six months of 2011.
When it came to IT enterprises, Systems Management was not the only market that witnessed a lot of growth. IDC also said that the database and data integration market saw a lot of growth and expects it to end this year with more growth. This means that it could increase its market size to $35.5 million. The best improvement was seen in the Database Management and Development Tools Market. There is still a need for an improved Management Structure in IT enterprise now, and this could result in more growth for 2012. A technical course in OBIEE training classes will help keep you competitive in the expanding IT markets.
