If you are looking for a Christmas present for the son or daughter that has everything, a leg up on their studying habits is a gift that will create better habits for their future. StudyBlue has developed the StudyBlue for iPhone app which ties in with a StudyBlue account online. The account costs $10.00 a month, or $60.00 for a year, which gives you a Premium membership. You need the Premium membership in order to have the program interface with the iPhone app.
Launching StudyBlue shows a list of their classes and an interface with their notes, flash cards and tests. Flash cards can be created and used while waiting for the bus or their after school program to start for quick 15 minute study sessions rather than hour long crunches. The app’s notes section gives you a look at notes posted by anyone in the class who is also a member of StudyBlue. Word docs, PDFs, images and several other formats supported by the iPhone are available. StudyBlue is compatible with any iPhone or iPod touch running the iPhone 3.0 software update.
StudyBlue reports that students using a mobile app from a smartphone spend 40 minutes more studying each week compared with the students who rely solely on using the website. Although students with smartphones could also use the website in most cases, apps generally offer a better experience and are easier to navigate and use because they are designed specifically for the smartphone platform.
Creating apps to help our future generation get a leg up is a move for the future. Java training classes, Python training classes and Oracle ADF training classes provide developers the latest tools available to keep our technology savvy children progressing.
Of course, a future study by StudyBlue to see test improvement will tell us if students are using their smartphones for studying and time management. Who knows, if we provide the tools that are interesting enough to make it cool to study, our educational system could turn around after all.
