Oracle is in the process of suing Google for patent infringements on the Java script used in Google’s Android. The trial was set to begin October 31, 2011, but Judge William Alsup has postponed the trial to begin sometime in 2012. Talks between both CEO’s have not worked out, so it looks like a settlement may not be reached, and a trial may begin in 2012.
Lawyers for both sides met early this November. Oracle has claimed that Google owes it more than $6 billion for parts of its Java software that were used in the Android mobile operating system, which Oracle took over after it acquired Sun Microsystems last year.
Java script training, as well as Python and Oracle ADF training courses are great for applying the most current software development skills.
According to Tim Lindholm from Google, co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have asked him to investigate what technical alternatives exist to Java for Android and Chrome. So far, Tim hasn’t seen any good alternatives, so Google is now looking into negotiating a license for Java to Oracle.
Judge William Alsup believes the trial is going to be long and tedious, and thus is setting the stage for jury selection based on this.
